Selling printed products doesn’t have to feel awkward or pushy. When you believe in the value of what you’re offering, that confidence naturally transfers to your clients. The key is to make products an expected and effortless part of your process — not a last-minute add-on. When you position prints, albums, and frames as a meaningful part of the photography experience, clients will begin to see them as essential, not optional. Here are a few simple ways to make product sales feel natural and genuine: 1. Show, Don’t Just Tell Always have stunning samples on hand. Let clients To View More >>

Previous |  Contents | Next Download the eBook Bad taste takes a while to show up, but as soon as it does it’s embarrassing. How to avoid it? Start by keeping it simple. If in doubt, leave it out. The half life of crap In her book The Mesh, Lisa Gansky talks about “the half life of crap” – about cheap manufactured products and how long they last. Or rather don’t last. Her point is that the half life of crap products is way too short. They get boring or they break. They end up at the back of your garage or as land fill. Our poor planet can’t afford To View More >>

Previous |  Contents | Next Download the eBook These are conversation starters, not a test. There’s more than one “right answer”. 1. Are there too many photographers? Do you think it’s different now to 10-20 years ago? If so, why? How does it impact your business, and can you do anything about it? 2. What is it that enables people to earn a living cooking, writing or taking pictures when almost everyone can do those things? What’s special about them? 3. How many commissions — weddings, portrait sittings etc — do you need, and how much does To View More >>

Since launching Product Preview in Print Shop a lot of you have asked for a way to display both the product preview and your own pre-designed display images (room view images) on the buy page. No sooner said than done! Your customers can now see both when they click through to your shopping cart. And it happens automatically. Just enable Product Preview and any display images you've created will appear as clickable thumbnails under the product preview panel. Click here for more about getting started with Product Preview! We thought we should explain where we’re heading in terms of product development over the next few months. There'll be more to come for sure about other products, but this is it for albums. For now! And although we’re working on major updates, especially to our Flushmount and Studio ranges, regular customers will be pleased to know we’ll be tidying up a few anomalies and aggravations in our systems and resources as we go. Please treat what follows as a road map, not a timetable. We’ll make further announcements as things are released. And of course, there’ll To View More >>

We love seeing our books and albums used for out-of-the-ordinary projects, so were delighted when Doyle Yachts asked us to create a book to promote their handmade sails. Months later and we get to share it with you. We love how powerful the full bleed pages look, and think this is going to really help set them apart. Doyle chose to order two 12x12 Q Book Lights, and asked us for a complete 80 page design (160 sides). This meant we had enough room for large images, but also space to incorporate text throughout the design to explain different aspects of the sails. Projects To View More >>

We've made some much-requested changes to our Q Book range: • We've added two extra sizes, A4 and A3. A3 and A4 are standard paper sizes in much of the world, but for those who aren't familiar they equate to approximately* 12x8" and 16x12" respectively (30x21 and 42x30cm). • You can now order both Q Book Lights and Mediums in the large A3 and 15x12 sizes. Although they are fairly similar we will run both sizes side by side for the time being. Designing Q Books The new A4 and A3 books do look great, and they're easy to design with the Workspace Album To View More >>
